“Suez Canal transits: 26,895 (2023), 14,498 (2024), 14,070 (2025), averaging 40.8/day Jan-Aug 2026 vs 73.7/day in 2023.”
2 sources: ahram.org.eg, suezcanal.gov.eg. The Suez Canal Authority’s annual report lists 26,434 transits in 2023, 13,213 in 2024 and 12,758 in 2025—not the figures in the claim. The Authority’s 2025 annual report gives a 2023 daily average of 72.4, not 73.7. The January–August 2026 average of 40.8 appears in news reports, but the claim’s annual totals are contradicted by the Authority’s figures.
